Following a long and successful career with some of the UK’s largest residential developers and construction firms, Peter Green has joined GRE Assets as Project Director. His appointment represents a wider commitment to company growth and its mission to lead the way in the property investment sector.

With more than 40 years’ experience working on major residential and commercial development projects in London, Brighton and across the South East, Peter has worked for the likes of Barratt Homes, Redrow, Mace and Linden Homes and has been responsible for delivering eight major residential schemes in the last 20 years.

As Project Director, Peter will be responsible for project delivery and developing new construction projects both in the UK and overseas. His over-arching experience of all aspects of the project process including planning, design, construction, finance, sales and after care will benefit GRE Assets.

What experience will you be bringing to the new role?

Having started my career through a construction route, around 20 years ago I refocussed and moved in project management, so I have an insight into all aspects of the industry. I understand how the process does and should work, and where the pitfalls lie, which will be essential in my new role at GRE Assets.

I consider myself as a jack of all trades and have an appreciation of all aspects of the business from planning and procurement to cost control and delivery. My experience over the last 40 years has meant that I have worked across the whole development process.

What will you be working on as Project Director?

Initially, I will be working on the Riverside Park project in Ashford. My role will be to look at the strategy for the whole project to ensure the smooth delivery of the final phase. This will involve organising the construction teams, cost control, health and safety, as well as ensuring quality and customer service throughout.

In the future I will look at how other projects will be delivered and what methods of procurement will be taken. GRE Assets are keen to purchase more sites over the coming year and I will no doubt be involved in that too.

What are you most looking forward to?

I’m excited to be working with GRE Assets on reshaping the construction process and producing a strategy to ensure efficient and effective delivery, both directly through our own construction team or through using external main contractors. It’s about bringing together experiences from past projects and taking them forward into future projects to ensure our schemes are getting better and better.

Moving forward, I envisage part of my role being to influence how GRE Assets operates in Spain and the Middle East by promoting tried and tested construction methodology, delivery and quality into this overseas market.
